The d’Arenberg Cube

A short drive from Adelaide, Australia, in the McLaren Vale wine region, sits The d’Arenberg Cube. Inspired by Rubik’s Cube and the puzzling art of winemaking, Chester Osborn (fourth generation owner), designed the building in 2003. Construction of the five-story building wrapped in 2017, opening to the public late that year.

We visited early, before they open, to tour the building and its 25 Salvador Dali sculptures. After that, we sampled wines. I recommend following our lead because it made for a great, fun day.

A fun ceiling in the building has artwork meant for wine bottle labels, but ended up unprinted.

Wine-Powered Go Kart

It’s a V6 with pistons the size of wine bottles. This cart comprised of all sorts of junk looked pretty cool.
