I rode a bicycle around Amsterdam and we traveled out to a park. In both cases, I took a few pictures of artwork.

Wall Street, Part Deux

This bull that looks much like the one in New York City. Ah, this sits in Amsterdam’s financial district.

Buildings can look cool. Buildings with art on their sides just about always look cool.

Against The Tide

This memorial sculpture memorializes the murdered Dutch journalist, Peter de Vries. The Morco mafia, a combination of Dutch and Moroccan criminal families killed the journalist for coverage that led to arrests within their organization. I have no idea what the writings state, but the artist calls the piece “Tegen Alle Stromen In”, translated as “Against the Tide”.

Babel

The University of Amsterdam officially teaches in twenty-four languages. The library’s exterior quotes the 1934 poem Awater, stating “Read it, it doesn’t say what it says.”

Lizards

Watch out for the bronze lizards strewn throughout this park.

Graffiti

Netherlands grafitti artist, Rence, tagged a parking area beneath a bridge, near Flevopark.
