Cape Town Revisited
Anjali and I visited Cape Town back in January 2010. We explored the area again in late November 2025. Our neighbors joined us for this leg of the trip, then the four of us met the rest of the folks in Johannesburg, to start a safari in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana.
Long Beach (Kommetjie)
We checked into The Last Word, a cute place to stay in Kommetjie, on the Western Cape. Views open to Long Beach, a dog-friendly stetch of white sand bordering crystal-blue water.

Penguins
A quick drive to Boulder’s Beach and we found penguins. My wife had some trouble getting a good photo, due to the wind.

Also, not sure how much Linux runs under the car, but I’m sure a bunch of the computers inside the car remain penguin-powered.

Table Mountain
Not a fan of the gondola, I remained at the base of Table Mountain while others ventured to the top. I saw it back in 2010, no reason to head back up. The best part about staying at the base: beer. A couple of guys seated next to me asked me if I had ever tried Corona. And, they wanted a photo taken with me.

Cape Point
We drove down to Cape Point. Funny, signs posted all over the place claim this area as the southernmost point of Africa, but Cape Agulhas truly has Cape Point beat by more than thirty miles. Still, the point has nice walking trails and two lighthouses to visit.
