Hiatus
A good friend of mine took time off from work every seven (or so) years. He used to work for a company with a sabbatical program, so after seven years he would step away from work for six months. Though later, he worked for a company without that program and thought, “Why not self-fund that?” At one point in his career, he spent two years unemployed and found that time a great reset.
So, I did something similar. In mid-2025, I stepped away from my job and planned to meet with family and friends around the globe. I did things I thought impossible while working, such as spending multiple weeks on safari and enjoying a transatlantic cruise.
