Disgusting Foods

Okay, you gotta visit Berlin’s Disgusting Food Museum. A short walk from [Checkpoint Charlie][ccpost], this small museum has exhibits on all sorts of cheeses, meats and other things that will turn any stomach. They even have a tasting area with a sign to keep count of vomiters.

Disgusting or not, they do point out some animals eaten only in a few points on the planet, like pangolin.

Pangolin Stew

The most disgusting, to me, is definitely surströmming (Swedish for “sour herring”). Fermented herring in a can, with only enough salt to keep the fish from rotting: the smell. I have never smelled anything worse than that and I certainly could not bring myself to taste it.
