The Puffins of Reykjavik

The boat ride out to the puffins: nice. The boat ride back: not so nice. It rained cats, dogs and puffins!

After the rain left me wet and cold, it felt great to come back into the harbor.

The Icelandic Coast Guard has only four active ships. Here’s one, but I did not get the name of the vessel in the photo. Based on the shape, I believe this is the Þór (Thor). Appropriate, because we visited Reykjavik on a Thursday.

Icelandic artist Ólöf Nordal created a spot of serenity and meditation in the Reykjavik harbor. Þúfa is a manmade grassy mound with a fish-drying shed on top. People walk up using the steps to enjoy the view.
We skipped visiting, due to th rain.

I liked the crab painted on the lot, at the harbor.

To warm ourselves, we visited Le Kock for coffee and a pastry. They had some cool artwork.

Afterward, we went back to the ship. Once aboard, I did not feel like getting back into town. Not even a record store visit would have coaxed me back ashore.
