Trollstigen means “the troll’s path,” and the name fits. A number of tight switchbacks exist on the road of the Trollstigen.

The winding road makes me want to take it by motocycle. The temperature and wind wants me to stay indoors.

At the end of the path rests the Troll Wall, or Trollveggen. Numerous climbers and BASE jumpers have died at this spot. Norway made BASE jumping here illegal in 1986, but that has not deterred people who have added this spot to their bucket list.

Looking down the mountain to the valley makes me wonder about the allure that attracts residents. Yes, the greenery seems lovely, though the mountains remind people of the annual cold and dreariness to expect.
